The Adolescent Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) is three level intervention unit which provides identification, assessment, evaluation, and treatment of juvenile probationers involved with alcohol and other drugs. Its purpose is to provide an effective bridge between the justice system with its legal sanctions and the treatment community with emphasis on therapeutic relationship.
The ASAP assessment is an in-depth procedure involving both the parent and the child and is designed to accurately determine the existence and /or extent of substance abuse. The adolescents who are assessed are also screened for additional mental health issues relative to substance abuse such as eating disorders, family dysfunction, or severe life stressors. Indications of problems in this area may result in the adolescent's referral to an appropriate type of intervention.
ASAP meetings are scheduled every Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Juvenile Court. See

Intensive Probation Supervision Program
Kathy Gorrell, Probation Specialist
(770) 528-2249
The Intensive Probation Supervision Program provides a community based, highly structured alternative to commitment to the State Department of Juvenile Justice.
This program may be a child's last opportunity to remain in the community and live with his or her family. No child will enter the program unless the parent has also contracted to actively participate. Each child begins the program with a period of at least thirty days of house arrest. Throughout the program, youth are monitored daily to determine adherence to the Court order. Successful movement through the program consists of fulfilling requirements of successive behavioral contacts, culminating in a short period on regular probation prior to termination from supervision. There are approximately twenty participants in the program at any given time.
Intensive Program Groups are currently scheduled between 6 - 7 p.m., on Wednesdays at the Juvenile Court.
